HEPHZIBAH, Ga. (WJBF) - At approximately 8:45 a.m. Monday morning, Richmond County Deputies responded to a reported shooting at 2964 Lot 20 Ulm Road.

The victim, 38-years-old, was found with a gunshot wound to her right leg and was transported to Wellstar Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial reports suggested the shooting was a drive-by; however, further investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division determined that Corey Deshawn Witten, the victim’s boyfriend and father of her child, was responsible.

The 43-year-old suspect was arrested and committed to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center for Aggravated Assault (Domestic Violence) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
