Florida’s appointed Attorney General is well on his way to being elected in his own right, according to fresh polling, primarily due to the GOP’s strength in the state.

A University of North Florida survey shows James Uthmeier with a 9-point lead over potential Democratic nominee Jose Javier Rodriguez.

Uthmeier, who Gov. Ron DeSantis tapped to fill the unexpired term of Ashley Moody after she was picked to fill Marco Rubio’s Senate seat, has 45% support.

Rodriguez, a former state Senator from South Florida, draws 36%.

Meanwhile, 14% of likely Midterm voters are up for grabs, while the rest wouldn’t answer or didn’t like the options on offer.
