The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert as the Severe Cyclonic Storm “Montha” over the west-central Bay of Bengal is expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, around Kakinada, on Tuesday evening or night. The storm is likely to bring maximum sustained wind speeds of 90–100 kmph, gusting up to 110 kmph, accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds in coastal areas.
