A Springfield man accused of attempting to rob an Upper Darby Wawa in 2023 was given a sentence of time served to 23 months with five years of consecutive probation after pleading guilty Monday to firearms not be carried without a license, a third-degree felony.

Brian Shields, 32, of the first block of Brookside Road, also pleaded to misdemeanor charges of simple assault and terroristic threats for the incident at the Drexel Hill Wawa at 3800 Garrett Road on July 26, 2023.

Additional charges of attempted robbery, threatening immediate serious bodily injury, and possessing an instrument of crime were dismissed under the negotiated plea worked out by Deputy District Attorney Geoff Paine and defense counsel Baltazar Rubio.
