HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings City Council unanimously approved the Public Art Creative Placemaking plan Monday night, advancing the next step in the Heartbeat Creative District’s goal to attract more visitors to downtown through artwork.
The plan outlines the process artists will follow to get approval for public art projects, as part of the Heartbeat Creative District’s strategic plan.
City Planner Ember Batelaan said bringing artwork to downtown can benefit both businesses and local artists.
“We have a bunch of local artists. That’s actually one of the priorities we identified in our public art plan is to have local artists for those public art, projects,” Batelaan said. “It would obviously be great to get regional artists, maybe statewide, but especially local artists to cont
