ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

The first freeze of the season is possible in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe metro areas on Wednesday morning.

A freeze watch is in effect from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

Temperatures as low as 21 degrees are possible near Santa Fe.

In Albuquerque and the middle Rio Grande Valley, temperatures are expected to drop to near or below freezing in many locations.

Frost and freeze conditions could harm crops and other vegetation left exposed to the cold.

Outdoor plumbing that is unprotected could also be damaged in the freezing temperatures.
