JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - A warning from the sheriff’s office for those living in Jackson County.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, someone identifying himself as Sgt. Corey Foster is calling residents from multiple spoofed telephone numbers with a ‘618’ area code and demanding money.
The sheriff’s office says the scammer is claiming the payment is for an arrest warrant.
The sheriff’s office doesn’t want anyone to fall for this and not to give out any personal information to anyone over the phone, unless it is certain the caller is legitimate.
They are reminding the public that the sheriff’s office does not call people for payments over the phone, nor do they give out warrant information over the phone.
