KNOXVILLE, Tenn — Repairs to the Gay Street Bridge are going to cost thousands of dollars more than expected, according to two resolutions on the Knoxville City Council agenda.
The two resolutions look to amend contracts with a consulting firm and a construction company. Both contracts add up to $254,200 more than what was previously budgeted. The project was originally expected to cost $1.94 million.
The first resolution is to increase the contract amount with Gresham Smith by $64,130 for a new contract not to exceed $512,630. The increase is to allow for the company to conduct a planimetric survey of the intersection of Gay Street and Hill Avenue. They will also do addition civil and traffic signalization design to reconfigure the intersections at both ends of the bridge, according
