A Levittown man who allegedly fled the scene of a Sunday night crash in North Bellmore that left a motorcyclist dead has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter, Nassau police said Monday.
Patrick Thompson, 59, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet west on North Jerusalem Road near Sherman Avenue when his vehicle collided with an eastbound 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle at about 11 p.m., police said. The motorcyclist, identified as Daniel Bliss, 63, of North Bellmore, died at the scene, police said.
Following the crash, Thompson fled the scene on foot, police said. He was eventually located by a police canine unit and arrested without incident, according to police.
Thompson was charged with second-degree manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, and leaving the scene of an incident
