NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The eye of Hurricane Melissa hovered over Jamaica early Tuesday, expected to make landfall within the early hours of the day at a historic Category 5, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters warned of catastrophic winds, flash flooding, and storm surges as Hurricane Melissa grew even stronger than Hurricane Katrina, the Weather Channel said.
