Here’s hoping the City of Regina re-opens Dewdney Avenue and 11th Avenue in time for the 2027 Grey Cup.
Yes, it’s about two full years until the CFL’s championship game will next be played in the Queen City on Nov. 7, 2027, according to a league announcement made Monday by league commissioner Stewart Johnston.
But who would have possibly imagined that two of Regina’s major, east-west thoroughfares would be closed — at the same bloody time!!! — through two complete football seasons? As of the CFL’s big announcement, replete with the cherished trophy being carried into the media conference by representatives from the nearby RCMP depot, those downtown streets still weren’t open!
