HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A wrong-way driver was killed overnight Tuesday in a fiery crash on the Katy Freeway, the Houston Police Department said.
According to police, the crash happened around midnight near the Washington Avenue exit, shutting down the inbound mainlanes for nearly six hours.
Police say the driver of a BMW drove down the exit ramp onto the freeway, then went westbound into the eastbound lanes.
Investigators say the BMW collided with a Tesla Cybertruck.
The impact, police say, sent the Cybertruck into an 18-wheeler, and the BMW caught on fire.
"The driver and the passenger of the 18-wheeler remained on scene, and they witnessed everything," Sgt. Rebecca Dallas said.
