CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Maine — Three police departments in Cumberland County are sharing a resource that is meant to help when responding to calls dealing with mental health.
Tri-community resource liaison Haylen Meader assists the Falmouth, Yarmouth, and Cumberland police departments.
Cumberland police Capt. Mindy Coe with says Meader's position is designed to fill the bridge the gap between law enforcement and mental health services in those communities.
Meader also reviews call logs to identify situations that could benefit from additional follow-up support. That could mean making a phone call, visiting in person, or connecting individuals and families with community resources that can provide ongoing support.
