SUPERIOR, Wis. (Northern News Now) - Wisconsin filmmakers and creatives are ready to call “action” thanks to the new Wisconsin budget.

In July, Wisconsin lawmakers passed the state budget which included funding for a film office, investment tax credits and up to $5 million for film production and investment each year until 2027.

However, this isn’t the first time Wisconsin has supported the film industry.

In 2008, the state had a film tax incentive program, only for it to be discontinued in 2013.

During that time, Wisconsin creatives, like Megan McGarvey watched as states like Minnesota, Ohio and Indiana offered production incentives.

Like many creatives, McGarvey packed her bags and moved.
