New Delhi: In a huge relief for his family members, fans and the Indian team management, Shreyas Iyer is reportedly on his way to full recovery after undergoing surgery for a spleen injury in Sydney, Australia. The Team India batter suffered a spleen laceration while taking an acrobatic catch during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney last week.
He hurt his lower rib cage after an awkward fall while completing the catch and immediately limped off the ground in immense pain. Iyer was admitted to a hospital in Sydney, where scans revealed he had ruptured his spleen, which required immediate surgical intervention. He also had to be admitted to the ICU due to internal bleeding caused by the injury.
