CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Michigan man is in the South Central Regional Jail facing charges tied to a high speed pursuit in Kanawha County.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department and the Charleston Police Department on Tuesday filed charges against Christopher Holloway, 59, of Lansing, Michigan. The incident started when Holloway was observed driving in the wrong direction on a Charleston street in a pickup truck. Officers attempted to stop Holloway, but he fled the scene in an F-250 pickup truck.

The pursuit stretched onto the West Virginia Turnpike and reached speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour. Deputies said he drove on the shoulder and ran several other motorists off the road. The pursuit finally ended when he crashed near the Turnpike’s 76-mile marker. Holloway was trapped in the wr
