Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is expected to announce over $4 million in assistance for residents and federal workers impacted by the ongoing federal government shutdown.
On Day 28 of the federal government shutdown – with federal food assistance benefits about to run out, the U.S. is moving toward a hunger crisis. Some 40 million Americans who rely on critical federal food assistance are set to see their benefits dry up in just days.
The funds will go towards food assistance, child care and rental assistance. Scott will be joined by Maryland Reps. Kweisi Mfume and Johnny Olszewski during the press conference.
The press conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday
