SALEM TWP., Ohio (WKBN) - The Columbiana County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate after four horse skeletons were found in a barn.
According to a report from the Sheriff's Office, a deputy was sent on Sunday to stables in the 3300 block of SR 45, where four horse skeletons were found in a barn. The horses were believed to have been locked in the barn, where they starved to death, the report stated.
It was also stated that seven other horses were on the property in poor condition.
WKBN was told that the horses were discovered by someone interested in a lease agreement at the property.
A report was sent to the Columbiana County Humane Society and the prosecutor's office, and a humane agent was called to the scene on Monday for further investigation.
