The Barrington High School football team took the ball straight down the field on its opening drive against North Kingstown and built a 7-0 lead against the highly-touted Skippers.

The lead, however, was short-lived, as the number two team in the state responded with a two-play scoring drive on its first possession and overpowered the Eagles 49-14 in front of the homecoming crowd on Friday night, Oct. 24. Barrington dropped to 1-5 with the loss, while North Kingstown improved to 5-1.

“We knew that this was a very talented team,” said Barrington coach Sandy Gorham. “One of the coaches who played college football said that offensive line is as big as anything I played against. He played D-line at Bridgewater. So I just asked the kids to play hard, give a great effort.”
