As first years on the job go, new Warren Harbormaster Joe Silva said recently he couldn't have had a more enjoyable experience than he's had during his initial summer in the role.
Silva, who learned from and replaced long-time predecessor Ed Cabral late in 2024, admitted there were challenges to gaining an understanding of some of the intricacies of the position during the heart of the season. But he eventually found performing the related duties full-time to be quite rewarding.
"It went well. It went well. It was certainly a learning experience," Silva said recently, as he and others readying the spat nurtured at the upweller in town for planting off Jacob's Point.
