In a significant political development, Zenith Sangma, former All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) legislator from Rangsakona and younger brother of former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, has resigned from the AITC and rejoined the Indian National Congress (INC).

In a letter to AITC state president Charles Pyngrope on Tuesday, Zenith Sangma stated that he had decided to resign from the post of Vice President of the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress and primary membership of the party, effective immediately.

He cited the need to begin a new chapter aligned with his personal vision and aspirations for the people he serves.
