The All Jaintia Muster Roll Workers Union has given the Meghalaya government an ultimatum to clear pending arrears of muster roll workers, effective from October 2, 2023, to December 31, 2024, in accordance with the Minimum Wages Act 1948.

Addressing a news conference after a meeting with the commissioner & secretary in-charge finance Vijay Kumar on Tuesday, adviser of the union, Khro L Pariat, stated that the union had served an ultimatum to the government, seeking clarification on whether the government would pay the pending arrears or override the provisions of the Minimum Wages Act 1948.

The Commissioner Secretary has agreed to provide a resolution within one month, but the union has given a deadline of one week for the government to provide a written clarification.
