A cyclist died in Queens on Monday night after slamming into a parked driver’s open car door, police said.
Cristian Villafuerte Vasquez, 26, was riding a traditional bike in North Corona around 6:30 p.m. when the 25-year-old driver of a BMW 3 Series sedan parked at the intersection of 108th Street and 38th Avenue opened his door to exit the car, according to NYPD officials.
Villafuerte Vasquez collided with the door and sustained serious head trauma, officials said. First responders brought him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged with a crime.
