JAMAICA —

A Louisville couple is stranded in Jamaica as a potentially catastrophic hurricane is hitting.

Hurricane Melissa made landfall Tuesday afternoon, and is expected to be one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes in history.

It has the potential to devastate the island nation just south of Cuba, possibly triggering a humanitarian disaster.

Now, several people are stranded there, bracing for the impact, including a couple from Louisville.

WLKY's DeAndria Turner spoke to Latasha and Corey Tatum.

The two took a trip to Jamaica with family. They said they were celebrating a birthday, but also using it as a late honeymoon. The two were married in July 2022, but their daughter was killed in a hit-and-run shortly after, delaying their celebration.
