Having seen Vladimir Guerrero Jr. early in his development, Andrew Tinnish knew right away he was looking at a future superstar.
The Toronto Blue Jays slugger was only 14 when Tinnish, who lives in Burlington, met him in the Dominican Republic.
Now, more than a decade later, those first impressions matter: Guerrero and another player Tinnish helped discover, catcher Alejandro Kirk, are leading Toronto’s offence as the Jays face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
Tinnish, the team’s vice-president of international scouting and baseball operations, was impressed by how Guerrero laid off bad pitches, forcing pitchers to come to him.
