ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Hurricane Melissa continues to rush across the Atlantic Basin, making landfall late this morning as a potential Category 5 major hurricane.
Hurricane Melissa is expected to bring widespread devastation to Jamaica with the potential for 15″-30″ of rainfall which would lead to extreme flooding. Along with this, winds as of 11 AM Tuesday morning were sustained at 185 mph with gusts up to 220 mph. If this storm were to rated on the Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF-Scale), the winds would qualify it as a EF-5 tornado. This along with the potential of a storm surge over 9 feet will put many people in a deadly situation.
