Veolia’s boil water advisory has been lifted.
The company issued an alert on the evening of Oct. 25 asking approximately 50,000 customers in Newark, Bear, Christiana, Brookside and New Castle to boil their water until further notice due to a water main break.
Customers were instructed to boil their water for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking or other consumption to safeguard against any water quality issues that might have come about during the water main repair. Residents in affected areas might have also experienced low to no water pressure during that time.
The break was isolated and crews repaired the water main on Oct. 26, but the boil water advisory remained in effect until lab samples met safety standards. The advisory was lifted in the afternoon on Oct. 27.
