(Gray News) – Multiple states are suing the Trump administration over the suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
A group of state attorneys general sued the Trump administration on Tuesday, the lawsuit shows .
The lawsuit seeks to maintain funding of SNAP benefits during the ongoing federal government shutdown, CNBC reports .
According to Reuters , this is the first time SNAP benefits will be suspended since the program was created 60 years ago.
SNAP provides food stamps to more than 40 million Americans.
The states listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit include:
