KINGSTON — Many passengers planning to travel between Kingston and Wolfe Island Monday night were left stranded on the dock when the ferry unexpectedly went out of service.

The Ministry of Transportation announced at 5:30 p.m. that the final trip to Marysville would happen less than an hour later at 6:20 p.m. and the final ferry to Kingston was at 7 p.m.

The ferry was out of service after that until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The service outage was due to a crew shortage, the MTO said.

“A lot of people got stranded, and I have a lot of messages from unhappy, angry constituents,” Kingston and the Islands MPP Ted Hsu said Tuesday morning.

“It’s an unacceptable disruption to the lives of people in in Kingston and Wolfe Island.”
