AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Coroner’s Office responded Tuesday afternoon to the scene of a dead body.
It happened around 2 p.m. at 2213 Southgate Drive at an apartment complex called The Pointe at Augusta.
A witness said there were at least six Richmond County Sheriff’s Office cars at the scene at an apartment complex.
Coroner Mark Bowen confirmed his staff was arriving there, as well.
Around 2:35, there were several marked and unmarked law enforcement vehicles on the scene, and deputies were searching a wooded area behind an apartment building. At 2:43, a group of deputies was coming out of the woods. Then a minivan came out of the woods behind the deputies.
There’s no word yet on whether it’s a suspicious death, homicide or natural death.
