A North Jersey man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for fatally shooting his stepfather , authorities announced Tuesday.

Tyrone Cradle, a 29-year-old Newark resident , was convicted in the case earlier this year. Under New Jersey law, he will serve at least 51 years behind bars.

Cradle’s stepfather, 48-year-old Rasool Crews, was killed in the May 19, 2023, shooting outside Crews’ home in Newark, according to authorities.

Cradle opened fire on Crews and Crews’ daughter when they exited their vehicle after returning home, cops said. The shooting was captured on surveillance video, which showed Cradle stepping out from the side of the home moments before bullets started flying.

He fled the scene immediately afterward but was captured four days later.
