GREENSBORO, N.C. — On your list of things to do daily, you might find: housework, grocery shopping, getting somewhere, and preparing meals. But this list of activities includes what many of you are doing for others.

"Unpaid caregiving is surging in North Carolina. These are adult children of aging parents who need support in their role because not only are they providing some level of medical care , they're managing financial risks, they're managing their own health," said Mark Hensley, NC AARP, Triad Region, Associate State Director for Community Outreach.

The latest report on caregiving in the U.S. is a joint effort by AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving. When it comes to North Carolina, about two million people in our state provide some care to a family member or a friend
