The City of Thunder Bay is moving ahead with its new draft Smart Growth Action Plan, with members of the city's Growth Standing Committee getting a chance to discuss the document on Tuesday.
The 80-page draft plan is aimed at increasing the city's tax base and population. It includes a number of initiatives toward that end, including:
Building more housing in downtown cores.
Improving road and highway infrastructure, and public transit.
Reviewing Innova Business Park's development guidelines to ensure they align with "current market opportunities and CEDC priorities."
Developing revitalization plans for the north and south cores, and a city-wide beautification strategy.
