WINCHESTER, Va. — One week before Virginians choose their next governor, Democrat Abigail Spanberger and Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears are sprinting to the finish line in a race that will make history no matter who wins.

Both women are vying to become the Commonwealth’s first female governor and, as polls show Spanberger maintaining the lead, their final campaign stops are reflecting starkly different strategies and priorities.

Spanberger, a former congresswoman known for her bipartisan record, rolled into Winchester on Tuesday as part of a statewide bus tour. Greeted by cheering supporters, she focused on economic growth, education, and lower costs.
