DOUGLAS COUNTY — From trick-or-treating to parties and parades, there is plenty to do in the Douglas County area for all to enjoy.

Alexandria's Halloween Parade, hosted by Vikingland Community Support Program, will begin at 5:15 p.m. The new route this year will be starting at 4th Avenue and Broadway Street, then heading south until 9th Avenue and Broadway. Lineup begins at 4 p.m.

The staging area for those participating in the parade will be on 4th Avenue from Hawthorne Street to Maple Street. Enter from Nokomis Avenue. Judging will take place at 4:30 p.m. with awards announced at 4:50 p.m. The theme this year is “Hometown Heroes.” The parade is highlighting Toys for Tots with drop off locations at Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce or the Vikinglan
