The incident occurred early Monday (October 27) morning as she was walking to Central Middle School. According to the Galveston Police Department, the girl was approached and grabbed from behind by an unknown man near her family's apartment.

The girl managed to break free after a brief struggle and ran directly to her school, where she reported the incident to school officials.
