ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said that a woman was arrested on Tuesday for stealing from a non-profit while serving as its treasurer.

Officials said 39-year-old Katherine Brooke Farmer is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent after she began stealing funds from Vets Helping Vets Anderson in April.

Detectives discovered that Farmer used the charity’s funds for retail, medical and other personal expenses between April and October, costing the non-profit more than $17,340.

Officials said that Farmer confessed to the wrongdoing in an interview with detectives. She is now inside the Anderson County Detention Center, waiting to go before a judge this afternoon.
