Chris Power, Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) Chief Operating Officer, discussed Kansas preventative health measures, civic involvement, and philanthropic impact at the Rotary Club of Emporia lunch late Tuesday morning.
KHF is a nonprofit dedicated to aiding and improving public health in Kansas through philanthropic and community means, and by addressing health disparities. The organization was founded in the 1980s, after Donald Stewart sold Wesley Medical Center with the goal of creating an independent philanthropic organization in Kansas. Stewart used the funds to create the Kansas Health Foundation and United Methodist Health Ministry Fund. 40 years later, KHF now handles over $620 million in assets.
