North Bay Mayor Peter Chirico has contravened the Code of Conduct for Members of Council of the City of North Bay and Certain Local Boards, according to Guy Giorno, the City’s Integrity Commissioner.

Giorno released his report Tuesday afternoon following weeks of investigation into Chirico using the city’s corporate credit card for personal expenses.

Council will now be tasked with determining whether a penalty should be imposed pursuant to section 223.4(5) of the Municipal Act, 2001.

Council have two choices – council may choose to do nothing, or it may impose one of two penalties (but not both): reprimand or pay suspension (up to 90 days).

According to Giorno’s findings, the $17,253.01 that the mayor has already reimbursed, he found Code of Conduct breaches in relation to $5,557.77 o
