FOUR MEN, including three brothers and their sister’s husband were feared drowned in the Dhatarwadi River in Gujarat’s Amreli on Tuesday, police said.

Police said a search and rescue operation was underway, in coordination with the fire department and Coast Guard personnel.

Those missing were identified as Mehram Khema Parmar, his two brothers Aana and Bharat, as well as their sister’s husband Himmat Pancha Vaghela, all residents of Barbatana village of Rajula taluka.

This incident followed heavy rainfall in Rajula taluka of Amreli, leading to increased flow of water in the river. In the 24 hours ending Tuesday at 5 pm, Rajula in Amreli taluka received the highest rainfall of 216 mm (8.5 inches) in the state.
