“The entire system failed her,” says the uncle of the 29-year-old doctor who died by suicide in a hotel room in Satara district on October 24.
Nearly 200 km from the Satara town where the doctor was employed at a government hospital, a dilapidated two-story house in a Beed village is packed with mourners joining the family in their grief.
Among those sitting cross-legged on the rugs in the middle are the doctor’s farmer parents and younger brother, who look too drained to speak to anyone. A paternal uncle tells The Indian Express , “Since her sudden death, all of us are in a state of shock. We don’t feel up to interacting with visitors, and answering the same questions over and over again.”
The doctor had checked into a hotel in Satara district around 1.30 am on October 24. The police
