MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Attorney General Josh Kaul is among 23 attorneys general and three governors who filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against the Trump Administration, urging it to use emergency funding to support the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

SNAP, also known as FoodShare in Wisconsin, supports more than 40 million Americans in buying food.

According to the DOJ, the lawsuit argues that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is not using emergency funds that are available to support SNAP benefits, despite contingency funds being available.

Kaul claimed Congress approved these funds in case of these types of emergencies.
