The Matildas have wrapped up their latest international friendly at Pride Park with a disappointing 0-3 defeat to England, suffering a late penalty and several injury blows as preparations continue for the 2026 Asian Cup.

Australia held England to a two-goal lead deep into the second half, with hopes of a late comeback dashed in stoppage time.

After holding off the Lionesses’ attacking waves, a VAR review resulted in a penalty against the Matildas in the sixth minute of added time. Georgia Stanway confidently converted from the spot, tacking on England’s third goal and ending Australia’s bid for a clean sheet in the second half.

Sam Kerr was substituted in the 69th minute, clocking her longest stint since returning from ACL rehab.

Defender Alanna Kennedy was sent off in the 19th minute
