A Dallas sheriff's deputy was thrown off an overpass after a truck lost control on the slick roadway and crashed into him and his squad car on Oct. 25.

At the time of the collision, he was standing between his parked patrol car and a railing while investigating a previous crash

Authorities said a second crash involving a deputy happened minutes after that first crash

A Texas deputy was hospitalized after he was struck by a car and thrown off an overpass while investigating a crash that had happened moments before.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on Facebook on Monday, Oct. 27, that deputies responded "responded to a vehicle crash when another vehicle struck them at the scene."

"This deputy is still recovering at the hospital," the department said.
