JERUSALEM, Jerusalem District —

Gov. Jim Pillen is in Israel on a trade mission to help promote the state's exports, including kosher beef made in Nebraska.

The governor took questions from reporters from the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.

He said he was about a mile from Gaza on Tuesday morning and could hear some strikes taking place.

Pillen met with people who were impacted by the attacks on Oct. 7, 2023 .

He is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.

The governor should return to Nebraska later this week.
