AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) — Augusta University joined schools nationwide in observing Constitution Day, which commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.
The university held an educational program where staff and students took turns reading the Constitution publicly as part of the federally mandated observance.
“The Constitution is the umbrella under which our government operates,” said David Kearns, federal depository library manager at Augusta University. “I like to say that democracy is not a spectator sport. You have to be informed, you have to know what you are doing and be involved.”
