PETERSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - Petersburg High School put itself on a temporary lockdown on Tuesday after gunshots were heard near campus.
Officials said it happened near the end of the school day, when students were being dismissed to go home.
All buses had already departed by the time the shots were fired.
Staff immediately moved any remaining students and workers to a secure location.
Police responded to the scene and searched the area.
An all clear was given, and the remaining students were allowed to leave.
