The U.S. Senate has confirmed Alabama Supreme Court Justice Bill Lewis to serve as a federal district judge in the Middle District of Alabama.

Lewis has served as a circuit judge in Alabama’s 19th Judicial Circuit and as a judge on the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals before taking his current role as an associate justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.

Alabama’s U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt had recommended Lewis for the judgeship. President Trump nominated Lewis.

Bill Lewis was appointed to the Alabama Supreme Court by Gov. Kay Ivey in May. He replaced Justice Jay Mitchell, who resigned to run for Alabama Attorney General.
