BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Dream Center Bismarck is launching an Emergency Food Drive in response to news that SNAP benefits could be paused if the government shutdown continues into November.
Organization leadership says financial donations are the most helpful since they can purchase food at much lower prices than retail. One dollar provides one meal, and that can make all the difference.
“There’s thousands of low-income households that are really close to becoming homeless, and it doesn’t take much to push them over the edge,” said Jim Barnhardt, the founder and executive director of Dream Center Bismarck.
Community members can donate non-perishable food items at Dream Center Bismarck (1805 Park Avenue) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Canned goods and dry food are preferred.
