Western Australia's State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) has ruled Kachana Pastoral Company must cull more than 100 feral donkeys on its remote East Kimberley property.
The ruling marks a major development in a years-long dispute over how the animals should be managed.
Kachana founder Chris Henggeler, who was granted the pastoral lease for station in 1989, believes wild donkeys have helped regenerate his land from dry country into a thriving oasis.
Mr Henggeler has previously told the ABC he was prepared to go to jail over the issue.
"If the science is not on my side, I deserve to be locked up," he told Australian Story .
" If the science is on my side, well, I deserve an apology. "
